Getting around

Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland. The primary language spoken in Zurich is a dialect of German, called Swiss German. The city offers many attractions and great restaurants. You will find more information about Zurich here. 

Those of you who stay at Hotel Marta are in walking distance to the venue of the Winter School and will not need to use public transport. Those of you who stay in private accomodation will receive passes which are valid for 24 hours. With the transportation pass you may travel to all the stations in the zone 110. A map of the zones can be found here. An interactive timetable for all the connections in the network can be found here. The network (ZVV) includes all trains, trams and buses in the Zurich area.  The corresponding stations for all the university buildings can be found under venues. 

Useful apps for the public transportation are the SBB timetable (Apple App Store / Google Play Store) and the ZVV timetable (Apple App Store / Google Play Store).

Please note: As mentioned above the one day pass will be valid for 24 hours. Validation of your pass will take place on your first ride at one of the ticket machines. After that you will not have to validate the ticket for any ride within the next 24 hours.
